The Cawdor Tavern is located in the picturesque conservation village of Cawdor, 10 miles from Inverness. It is close to the famous Cawdor Castle made famous by Shakespeare’s Macbeth and was originally the Castle’s workshop.

It has only been a Tavern since the 1960s and was created with the purpose of giving the estate workers a place to relax but independent from the Castle and the Laird’s control. It is still an independent pub to this day and the original lounge bar is decorated in a traditional manner with the bar walls being lined with oak panelling from the Cawdor Castle dining room, which was gifted to the Tavern by the former Laird.

Modern Scottish food is offered using fresh local produce where possible and the Tavern has fine malt whiskies together with an excellent wine selection. However, it is the Shakespeare and Macbeth connection which still continues to draw visitors to Cawdor from all over the globe.
