The Barn Bar was once a lowly cattle byre at the heart of Cologin Farm just a few miles south of Oban town centre hidden among the hills of Lerags Glen.

The slate cattle stalls are still there and its original Heath Robinson conversion is best described as characterful. To be fair it is the people that make a pub and the glen locals are a fascinating bunch ranging from divers and farmers to aristocrats and artists and of course we have had our fair share of celebrities visit over the years. barnbar-exteriorThe pub served as a wrap party location for Mick Jaggers’ film production company and scenes from his film Enigma, starring Kate Winslet and Dougray Scott, were shot just a wee bit further down the glen. Whilst we couldn’t persuade Mick to play the bagpipes he joined in a Strip the Willow and let his hair down and was able to relax and enjoy his pint without any hassle.

The bar is at the rustic heart of Cologin and it is so much more than just a pub. Describing the Barn’s unique ambience is not easy – suffice to say that once you’ve been you will return! The Barn prides itself on using the best fresh local produce and during the main season we serve homemade, wholesome lunches and evening meals with blackboard specials. We also offer real ales and a great whisky collection as well as friendly staff and local musicians who play regularly throughout the year, usually on a Sunday around 4ish. Our locals and regulars are a great source of local knowledge and information and if you’re not sure what to do and where to go someone in the Barn will point you in the right direction!
