The Coylet Inn dates back to 1650 when it was used as a coaching inn on the main road from Glasgow to Dunoon. Previously named the Loch Eck Inn, it boasts stunning views over Loch Eck.
The Inn has been subject to many past ghostly sightings including a child, known as the blue boy, in Bedroom 4 and the ghost who wanders the corridors with footsteps heard late at night, even when there are no guests staying at the Inn.
The Coylet Inn has had many appearances in television and films over the years, but its most notable is the BBC drama filmed in 1994 about its famous ghost, the Blue Boy, starring the actress Emma Thompson. The story tells of a husband and wife who are expecting a child and arrive to spend a few days at a secluded loch, but find their happiness short-lived as details of his infidelity emerge amongst stories of a ghostly blue boy.
