Their story: The beautiful Oak Tree Inn stands in the shade of a magnificent 500 year old oak tree and is located on the east side of Loch Lomond where the highland boundary fault line separates the Highlands and Lowlands. The Inn is built from local re-cycled materials from Buchanan Castle stables, wood panelling from a former shooting lodge at Rowardennan, now a youth hostel, as well as slate from Aberfoyle Slate Quarry.

Their accommodation: Rooms are located above the Inn, and in a series of beautiful cottages just a few minutes walk from the main building. The inn offers single rooms, twins, doubles, family rooms and a bunkhouse that can be shared by a party of up to four. Each room has its own individual character and all of the deluxe rooms in the cottages have views towards the loch. All rooms are en-suite and are well equipped to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

Their deal: Stay for Bed & Breakfast any Sunday to Thursday night, between 1 November and 22 December 2014, for the special price of just £45 for one night or £79 for two nights.

Their story: Opened in 1705, The Drovers Inn is one of the oldest licensed premises in Scotland and located at the northern tip of Loch Lomond. It takes its name from the Highland drovers who used to drive their cattle down the side of Loch Lomond to the markets. One of the most famous drovers was Rob Roy. Not surprisingly, given its 300 year history there have been many ghost sightings in the inn. The Inn was also used as a location in the German film Cloud Atlas starring Tom Hanks and Halle Berry. And stars such as Gerard Butler and Game of Thrones’ Rory McCann have also been spotted there

Their accommodation. The Drovers’ accommodation is not based on your standard hotel bedroom. It reflects the tradition and history of the historic building but no two are in any other way similar. In one room you will find the Duke of Argyll’s original bed next to a Jacuzzi bath. There are a mix of standard rooms and en suite twin, double and family rooms.

Late deals for July at the Galley of Lorne Inn

Their story: Dating back to 1680, The Galley of Lorne Inn was a Drovers Inn, the first stop to market for farmers from the Isle of Jura who swam their cattle at low tide to get to the mainland. However, the Inn’s most colourful history dates from the 1960s when the Laird of Lunga, Colin Lindsay-MacDougall resurrected its standing as a hostelry. Has connections to George Orwell and looks out onto Loch Craigish where scenes from the 1960s Bond film From Russia with Love were filmed.

Their accommodation: Aptly for the new initiative, the name of each of their rooms tells a story. Before coming to Ardfern to live, Scotland was only a holiday destination for the current owners, but it didn’t take long for them to fall in love with the country. As they were married on the Isle of Skye in May 2004, they named their largest suite after the island and naturally it is often used brides and grooms and honeymooners.
